British Concession
Our hotel, the White Swan, is built on an island in Guangzhou which was formerly the British Concession during the Opium Wars. The area is very walkable and the 19th century western buildings remind me of New Orleans.
The island is on the Pearl River.
The other side of the river lights up at night with flashing buildings, spotlight and laser shows, and lit dining boats.

It's Official
Yesterday, we returned to the adoption registration office to have an official adoption ceremony. In the eyes of the Chinese government, Yunyun is now part of our family.
(Sorry for the blur; dark conditions and no flash allowed)
The office was near Yunyun's old neighborhood and school. She recognized some of the sights.
The office gave her a very nice gift to recognize the adoption and help her remember her hometown.
She seemed very happy and enthusiastic!
Today, we took a taxi into downtown Chongqing to visit the Great Hall of the People, a government assembly hall, and the Three Gorges Museum, a natural and anthropological history museum. The taxi was only about $2 to ride across the entire town (and it ran on clean natural gas), but the driver was a bit grumpy.
